Personas

Personas are descriptions of people who will be using the software. The more specific the information, the better. The persona should usually be a fictional character, although it is reasonable to use a real person, especially if they are the client.

When choosing personas, you should exaggerate their unique attributes. That is, if you want to target users who aren't good with computers, then your persona to represent that market segment should be someone who is really, really clumsy with computers.

If you give the personas names and use them frequently, the team will grow to understand and even appreciate the unique qualities of each persona.
