Thick client

A thick client is a computing system where the display, programming, and storage are all handled locally. This is the typical laptop and desktop computer.

In the 80's, thin client computing was a necessity. In the 90's, thick clients were popular as hardware costs fell. Now, in the 2010's, thin clients are coming back into vogue.
